The Fellowship Chairman, Bede Gerrard, wrote to the His Grace, Bishop Angaelos
We convey our thoughts and prayers from the Orthodox Fellowship of St John the Baptist to Bishop Angaelos on the violence carried out yesterday in Tanta and Alexandria against the Coptic Orthodox Church as they celebrated the Entry of Christ into Jerusalem.
We were all moved by his testimony and thoughtful address at our last years conference and were moved by his fortitude and his firmness in the faith which he ensured us was the prerequisite for effective living with the diversity of our modern world.
The Coptic Orthodox Church has suffered and given steadfast witness to the truth of our faith throughout its existence. We pray and will continue to pray for our fellow Christians in Egypt and throughout the Middle East as they bear witness under such difficult and life threatening circumstances.
May the victims and their families find peace in the faith and may their memory be eternal. God grant them a place of refreshment light and peace; where all sorrow and pain and suffering are gone away.
